Sounds like a good time to add it to the East Glam list too in that case...tempting to hit the coast with a couple of traps tonight, although there are few other migrants around it seems.
The reason I turned it off at 12 was the wind, which was presumably responsible for the worst catch since early March.
I do have a 400w bulb, which I usually use away from home on open sites, although if there are migrants about I will use it at home as soon as I get the chance! To be honest it is hard to tell whether it significantly improves the catch, although my gut feeling tells me it is better. The bulb is nearly a foot tall, and is quite a fearsome looking beast! Lighthouses spring to mind.
I did find a good company in Cardiff www.tlc-direct.co.uk who do the control tray and bulb at a very good price, and their home delivery is good too. The bulb was about £6 and the control gear £35 or so from memory. The best place to get the ceramic bulb holder from is one of the many internet lighting outlets who specialise in selling clobber to people who want to grow cannabis at home...! You can pick them up for £5 to £10.
oh, I also found out that mercury vapour bulbs are going to be phased out in the next couple of years so that might be a good place to get a job lot in to keep traps running for a while longer.

The bulb holder you need would be an EL40 I believe.

Barry - Just checked the bulb holder and it's an ES40 that you want, not EL40 the ES bit being Edison Screw.
