Alun Valley again

Some more photos from a really excellent evening, though it did get a bit wet at the end!
Including a Small Mottled Willow, a migrant that then hitched a lift as a secret stowaway in my van.

Ypsolopha nemorella

Acompsia schmidtiellus

Monochroa cytisella

Cochylis hybridella

Leopard

Evergestis pallidata

Brown Scallop. Worn, but new to me.

Beautiful Brocade

Query. Any thoughts?

  1. Fab selection Chris. Is you mystery one not a poorly marked Endothenia quadrimaculana? Was it large?

  2. Thanks Barry, that one was bugging us. It was a decent size.

  3. Worth considering E. ericetana of course, which perhaps it resembles more? The 2 quadrimaculana I caught recently were much more strongly marked than this - I prob took the odd pic which I'll post later.

  4. Funnily enough, I was just googling Endothenia photos and it does look spot on for E. ericetana. It probably was a bit small for quadrimaculana. Would be first county record since 1907!

  5. I'm happy that's Endothenia ericetana. Another good record from a productive night!

  6. Paul Roberts and myself caught 3 Endothenia ericetana on 14 July 2008 at Island Farm, which should be in your db?

  7. I don't have these records in my copy.

  8. They were probably part of a batch the client requested was kept confidential, so will be archived I'll re-activate and resync them in that case. I'll also see if I have any photos ...
