Yesterday's Bute Park moth morning was very successful with plenty of interested adults and kids turning up to see the moths caught overnight. I left two MVs and a 6W actinic in the nursery compound on what was a clear and fairly cool night. Moth highlights included
Olive and three
Swallow Promiment, probably from the mature poplars on the nearby riverbank. The most surprising moth was a
Crescent which perhaps wandered up-river from the Cardiff Bay wetlands. There were a few migrants in the form of
Silver Y and three
Dark Sword-grass, and also the sexton beetle
Necrodes littoralis.
