Bridgend garden last night 13Jul17

A cooler night but we still caught 73 moths of 34 species on this our 16th session on the year, including seven new species for the year: Bird Cherry Ermine, Notocelia rosaecolana, Gold Triangle, Common White Wave, Small Fan-footed Wave, Yellow-tail and The Clay. There were also some really nice ones like Rosy Footman, Small Phoenix, Buff Arches and Early Thorn. Garden Year list now up to 134 species.

We also recorded seven species of butterfly in the garden yesterday afternoon as both types of buddleia, White Valerian, Potentilla and Lavender really start to bring them into the garden: 1 Small White, 1 Large White, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 Meadow Brown, 1 Peacock, 1 Red Admiral and 1 Small Tortoiseshell. So far this is the best summer since 2006 for us for both moths and butterflies.
