Death's Head Hawks
I have had a call from Geoff Hobbs (Bridgend Council) to say that someone has found some Death's Head Hawk caterpillars in Nottage. They are keen to move them and I have suggested that for the time being they should be taken to the reserve centre until someone can collect them and look after them. So the question is, who fancies rearing some welsh Death's Head Hawks?

Merthyr mawr last night. PP&GMT.
Marbled green
Epinotia trigonella
Clavigesta purdeyi
Agonopterix nanatella.
George and I tried for an early Portland moth last night
without success, but a decent night was had in the end. The
A. nanatella was new for us both and was last recorded on the
site in 1864.

Overnight trap produced a Toadflax Brocade (2nd this year) & August Thorn plus migrants Silver Y (4) & Dark Sword-grass (2).
Coed Garnllwyd
Rob and Linda Nottage kindly set the portable trap in the meadow at Coed Garnllwyd on monday night. We weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised by over 35 species with the highlight being a couple of smart Mochas:
Other nice moths included a couple of small waved umbers, pretty chalk carpet and a few others that are new for the site I believe: scalloped oak, rosy footman, Blastobasis lacticolella, Epermenia falciformis and Argyresthia albistria (though I've put a pic in case I'm wrong about that..).
There were a couple of tatty pugs that we weren't sure of too as well as an ermine moth - not sure if this one identifiable (we did catch Yponomeuta plumbella too).
