A Promising Night, But ...

I'm away early, Saturday morning, so I ran my GMS trap last night. The evening was mild, with high cloud and it had the feel of a good night to come. The skies cleared overnight, but even so, the minimum was a reasonable 5.00C.
Despite all of that, it was a little disappointing, this morning, to find only fourteen moths of just three species:

Brindled Beauty x 8
Common Quaker x 3
Hebrew Character x 3

Hmmm!

Bridgend last night

A nice Esperia sulphurella was in the garden yesterday evening (first since 2011).

The overnight trapping produced 14 moths of 9 species: Double-striped Pug, Brimstone, Common Marbled Carpet, Garden Carpet and Poplar Grey all new for the year, plus Common Quaker, Early Grey, Clouded Drab and Hebrew Character.

So far this year...dreadful.

It's still early in the year but so far I've had very, very poor results on the nights I've fired up the garden MV trap. I've not reached double figures on any night, most mornings it's been less than a handful, including three or four blank nights, last night a sole Hebrew Character
The best moths so far being a Streamer, new to garden, Iron Prominent and Pebble Prominent. I do hope it picks up soon.

Another caterpillar query...

I've had another caterpillar photo sent in to me for identification but I am generally clueless with caterpillars apart from a few exceptions. Can anyone id this one please? Unfortunately I didn't get any idea of size.

Six species, only a dozen individuals last night, the highlight a Nut-tree Tussock plus also Mullein, Angle Shades, Common Quaker, Hebrew Character and Clouded Drab. Also a Green Shield Bug.
