Rhoose Point

Could this rather worn specimen be Aethes tesserana?

  1. Hi Adam, it looks good to me but I've never seen it - hopefully Dave can confirm.

  2. Many thanks George. I was out for an evening stroll a couple of days ago with a pot but no net. There were other examples of this moth around with brighter colours and a more obvious chequered pattern, but this was the only one that was too slow to get away! God only knows what the dog walkers thought I was doing - I will be enhancing my reputation as the local eccentric...

    1. Hi Dave, just looking at the NBN gateway, this looks like the 8th Glamorgan record (first in 10 years) and the 9th Welsh one. Is that correct or is there data missing from the gateway dataset?

    2. 8th Glamorgan record is right, but I've no idea about it's status in the rest of Wales. I don't think any other welsh county has it's data on the Gateway, so you can't go by that.
