So having tried (with varying degrees of success) leaf mine id in Carms i thought i'd keep an eye out while doing other things on reserves in Glamorgan too. Here are some i found yesterday at Cwm Colhuw (apart from the meadowsweet which was at Parc Slip):
1. Stigmella plagicolella |
2. Phyllonorycter spinicolella |
4. Not sure on hazel |
3. S.ulmariae on meadowsweet? |
1 and 2 are fine. I find the two Hazel species quite tough at times, but yours looks like floslactella. Not sure about the Hornbeam one, if it is indeed Hornbeam. And the Dogwood blotch looks fungal - there is no sign of the parenchyma being eaten, and no attempt to inflate the 'mine'. Not sure about the meadowsweet mines either. It's been vacated, so perhaps you press it and let me have it at some point?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave - i didn't think the dogwood looked likely but i threw the meadowsweet - i do have another similar one in meadowsweet so I'll try pressing that for you.
