Caterpillars

Despite the woeful lack of moths on the wing lately, there were several healthy looking caterpillars in the garden this afternoon.  The two below caught my eye, being examples of (I think!) Oak Eggar and The Drinker...

Cwmbach GMS

A chilly old night (3.40 C) so just three moths to the actinic garden trap: Early Tooth-striped, Brindled Beauty and Hebrew Character, of which only the latter two were GMS species. So the very poor spring continues. It is early May, but it might as well be early March!

Rhoose Point

Just 7 species last night, including Treble Bar, Purple Bar, Elachista argentella, Eudonia angustea and the rather nondescript moth below.  At first I thought it might be a Case-bearing Clothes Moth, but the curved pointy things (labial palps???) suggest probably not.   I think it may be one of the Anomologinae, but I'm not sure.  Can anyone help with this one?

Rhoose Point

Trapped on the 1st May.  12 species altogether including White-pinion Spotted, Shuttle-Shaped Dart and Coleophora albicosta.  There were also several photos below for ones that I haven't been able to pin down definitively... Can anyone help with these?

This evening, while closing the vents in my greenhouse, I disturbed a single Pyrausta aurata from a plant of Catnip. There is now a permanent colony of this species on the Catnip, in my greenhouse.
