Whilst looking through my photos of these pyralids from Kenfig on 24th April today one photo struck me as different. P. purpuralis and P. ostrinalis are very similar but i noticed the paler yellow markings and strong subterminal bands on the upper and underwings of the top photo.
Is this P. ostrinalis ?
Sorry Paul, I'd want to see the underside of the hindwings before I accept it's ostrinalis.
ReplyDeleteOK Dave, will look for that feature in future.
