Depressaria badiella

I've now dissected this Depressaria taken in my garden on Friday night and it is badiella (a male). I think this is the 2nd Cardiff record after one in Jake's garden in 2006. I bet Tony's will turn out to be this species too - the specimen looks very similar.

  1. Nice one George! If I was a gambling man I'd definitely be up for putting a few bob on mine being badiella too.

  2. I'd be amazed if it's not. If it is badiella, it's funny that two should turn up on the same night in different locations - it was a very warm night so perhaps there was some dispersal from breeding sites.

  3. Apparently quarries are one of its prefered habitats. There are 2 small quarries less than 200 yards from my garden so possible that mine may have originated there.
