We recorded 43 species with our little 8W Actinic trap at Broughton over the weekend. Our list for the site has reached 104 species so far (75 macro / 29 micro) in 6 trappings over about 11 months. I don't normally list every moth, but anyone inerested can take note of the variety we had:-
Scoparia pyralella and ambigualis, Pammene fasciana, Elachista atricomella, Chrysoteuchia culmella, Anania fuscalis, Bee moth, Homoeosoma sinuella, Eucosma campoliliana, Fox moth, Lackey, The Drinker, Green Carpet, Garden Carpet, Common Carpet, Sandy Carpet, Small Seraphim, Purple Bar, Grass Rivulet, Lime-speck Pug, Brindled Pug, Foxglove Pug, Riband Wave, Willow Beauty, Mottled Beauty, Small Elphant Hawkmoth, Buff Ermine, White Ermine, Heart & Club, Heart & Dart, The Flame, Large Yellow Underwing, Ingrailed Clay, Small Square-spot, Triple-spotted Clay, Double Square-spot, Brown Rustic, Mottled Rustic, Dark Arches, Marbled Minor (agg), Middle-barred Minor, Bordered Straw, Pinion-streaked Snout.
Fox moth and Lackey were especially pleasing as we'd noted caterpillars along the coastpath in spring.
