Marc Botham and I trapped at Cwm Colhuw WTSWW reserve, Llantwit Major last night. Despite a promising forecast there was a nagging chilly wind up on the cliff, and we both wished we'd taken more layers.
The moths were a bit slow as a result of the conditions, but by the end around 52 species had been amassed, the star of the show being a single
Northern Rustic (which thankfully made Marc's trip from Oxford worthwhile). Other highlights were
Bordered Sallow,
Fern (2),
L-album Wainscot (2),
Puss Moth,
Lobster and
Nematopogon schwarziellus (tbc). The most abundant moth was, surprisingly,
Common Swift, with around 100 being recorded at the 3 MVs and 2 actinics.
