Bridgend garden MV trapping 09Jul14

31 species overnight. Probably would have been more if we remembered to unplug neck of trap - derr! Some moths found their way in past the cloth though. The highlights were our first Chinese Character since 2010 (3rd record for site), our first Lime-speck Pug since 2009 and a rather splendid Elephant Hawkmoth. Others new for the year were probable Spindle Ermine (agg), Udea prunalis, The Magpie, Common Rustic (agg) and The Spectacle.

Butterflies have been sparse of late with only singles of Comma, Red Admiral, Large White and Speckled Wood flying through the garden and not stopping on any of our splendid array of insect friendly flowers and plants! Emma has recorded Ringlet, Meadow Brown and Large Skipper up in her Forest Schools activity nearby.
