Gorseinon

Despite what seemed like pretty good conditions last night a return of 70 species seemed rather mediocre given it's mid-July and I ran the big bulb. Interestingly Buff-tip was the most common species with 26 recorded, 25 of which were outside the trap, highlighting the need to be at the trap first thing. Tonight looks like it could be pretty hot and humid (min of 19oC forecast for Gorseinon), although rain forecast too, so make sure your bulbs are covered...

  1. That just shows how good your garden is Barry - I'd always be delighted with 70 species in mine!

  2. Low 60's in my garden last night using the 125w bulb. That's a bit lower than I'd have expected given the conditions, in fact my perception is that the totals have usually been a bit below par this year despite the good weather... The forecast looks a bit too breezy to make it worth putting the trap out again tonight in this very exposed location, but tomorrow night looks good too, so I'll hang on 'til then I think!
