Rhoose Point

27 species last night including the first Elephant Hawkmoth.  Also Silver-ground Carpet, Pale Prominent, Purple Bar and nice to see 13 Cream-spot Tiger moths. Also a couple of Knot Grass which seem to be turning up frequently and doing well this year in Rhoose.  Heart and Dart numbers starting to build now too, with 10 last night.

  1. I'm glad someone is catching some moth. Close to f-all in mine last night.

  2. Cream-spot-tastic! Just 2 short of your record catch for this species!

  3. Excellent catch Adam. As Dave stated at least someone's catching something - unlike me!

  4. 19 species in Llandaff North, which I thought was half reasonable - although Barry had twice this number and didn't think that was particularly good, so maybe I should be disappointed...

  5. Strange isn't it? It was quite breezy here too last night, if it had been still I reckon the catch would have been a lot larger (there were only two micros in the trap which sort of supports that theory!). I think the sunny weather has warms the abundance of south and west facing slopes and a lot of things emerge within a short time...
