Despite the temperature dropping to about 10 overnight we had a successful and well-attended moth morning at Parc Slip this morning with 136 moths of 59 species turning up. Plenty of FFY including
single-dotted wave, eyed hawkmoth (the latest we've caught one here),
scalloped oak, shaded broad-bar, dingy footman, burnished brass, common lutestring, northern spinach, broom moth (only the 4th caught here),
Celypha striana and a
beautiful hook-tip.
Elephant hawkmoths finally turned up in numbers too with 7. I was beginning to worry about the lack of hawkmoths this year.
