This site is in RCT but outside the VC41 boundary, it is in VC42 Brecknockshire. Mike & me decided that a visit to this site could be interesting as it had a good variety of trees and low plants. Mark Evans joined us for the evening's trap which started at 22.00 (11 degs) and finished around 01.40 (7.8 degs). About 90 species were caught and ID. We had a few nice moths: Common Lutestring, Plain Wave, Welsh Wave, Double Line & Coronet. However the highlight was a Cloaked Pug & a Dotted Carpet. The former being a VC42 first. Ironically it was with Mark back in 1998 that Mike & me had Glamorgan's first & only Cloaked Pug at Cefn Pennar-uchaf, nr. Aberdare.

  1. The second cold session in a row. I'm thinking of buying some new thermals!

  2. Muggier tonight, but feet up for me as after this am and what with another early start tomorrow. That's a great capture and nice pic too btw - a species I'd like to see

  3. You'll have to go mothing with Jake and Mike in the uplands, but you'll only get Cloaked Pug if I'm there too, apparently!
